Sorrel "Legend of Siberia"
Sorrel "Legend of Siberia".
Tender and juicy leaves throughout the summer.
An early ripening variety of winter-hardy perennial. There are only 39-42 days before the first cutting and in the second year from regrowth to cutting 15 days. The bush is erect, with a diameter of 24-26 cm, a height of 26-30 cm, the average number of leaves in a rosette is 38-42 pieces. The leaf is elliptical in shape, light green, large, very delicate and juicy leaf texture. The taste is slightly acidic. Plant weight up to 310 g.
This variety is considered the best for use as a spinach or salad crop. Firstly, it is one of the most slightly acidic sorrel (acidity is only 0.3%) and therefore has practically no equal among its peers; secondly, it contains a high content of carotene and ascorbic acid; thirdly, its genetic feature is such that the plant accumulates nitrates in much smaller quantities than other varieties.
Used fresh, for canning and freezing, and also as a potted crop. The roots in the form of decoction and powder are used in folk medicine.
In the year of sowing, the first cutting of greenery is carried out 2-2.5 months after germination. Flower arrows are regularly removed. The last mass cutting is carried out no later than mid-August for successful overwintering of the plants.
1,0 g = 300-400 seeds.
